You may have heard Dolores host her own personal
finance radio show, Dollars & Sense with Dolores
Kong, or seen her on CNBC or New England Cable News.
A CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER practitioner and
personal finance journalist, Dolores has also appeared
on Channel 7, CBS4, Channel 5 and UPN38 in Boston. She
is a Pulitzer Prize finalist in public service and
George Polk Award winner from her previous career at
the Boston Globe.
An accomplished public speaker and educator with a
thriving practice, Dolores has given talks on such
topics as retirement planning, college planning and
investing, to audiences ranging from educators to
retirees to telecommunications professionals to
investment club members.
In her previous career as a full-time journalist,
Dolores wrote for such newspapers as the Cape Cod
Times and the Boston Globe, covering everything from
personal finance to medicine, environment to politics.
She continues to educate through her articles, which
have appeared in Women's Business Boston and
Dolores graduated cum laude from Barnard College with
a bachelor's degree in English. She attended the
graduate journalism program at the University of
Missouri, Columbia, and completed the Boston
University Program for Financial Planners.
Active in a number of organizations, Dolores serves as
treasurer of the Barnard Club of Boston and of the New
England chapter of the Asian American Journalists
Association. She also served on the executive
committee of the Boston Newspaper Guild.
Dolores and her husband are authors of two hiking
guides to Acadia National Park. They enjoy hiking,
backpacking, jogging and cross-country skiing
together. They have been inducted into the Appalachian
Mountain Club's New England Four Thousand Footer Club,
in recognition of their hiking all New England peaks
4,000 feet and higher. I've been named one of the Top 10 Financial Advisers by Women's Business Boston (Adobe Acrobat File).
