Free and reduced parking, discounts on museums and
free concerts are among the gifts to Boston
residents and volunteers that Mayor Tom Menino has
announced for the next few days, to thank them for
helping to host the Democratic National Convention.

There'll be free on-street parking with a two-hour
limit on Friday and Saturday. Boston Common Garage
will have a flat $10 fee Friday through Sunday.
Prudential Center parking will also have a flat $10
fee (normally up to $36), with a minimum $5 purchase
at Pru Shops. Museums will offer 50% off admission
on Friday, and certain theater tickets are 50% off
all weekend, and free concerts abound.

Whether that's enough of a thank-you for some of the
FleetCenter area businesses hurt by the DNC is
another topic entirely. But it is a chance for the
public to enjoy the city once more, now that the DNC
is headed out of town, for free or at a discount.
