Don't Fall for Cell Phone Come-ons!

With a new cell-phone number portability rule to
take effect Nov. 24, you may be bombarded with
offers to switch carriers before then, before that
rule is in effect. If you fall for the come-on, that
means you won't be able to keep your cell-phone
number if you switch now. But if you wait until Nov.
24 before switching your carrier, you can keep your
current cell-phone number. Just the other day I was
in a technology department store buying one small
item, and the cashier tried to lure me into
switching cell-phone carriers. But I knew better.
