Veterans Benefits

With the 60th anniversary of D-Day being observed
this weekend, and with a new law signed by
Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney extending state
veterans benefits, this is a good time to review
some of the available financial benefits for those
who've served this country. In Massachusetts, for
instance, certain veterans and spouses or parents of
veterans may qualify for limited property tax
exemptions and motor vehicle excise and sales tax
exemptions. Those benefits have just been extended
to about 54,000 so-called peacetime veterans, those
who served between the Vietnam and Persian Gulf
wars, as a result of a law signed by Gov. Romney
last week.
