Freshman Money Tips

These days, with credit card applications given out
like candy on college campuses, and educational debt
on the rise, it's more important than ever that new
students learn the basics of money management. So if
you're a student, or know a student entering
college, here are some tips for you:

1) Shop around for a low-fee or no-fee bank account.
Many banks offer special deals for students

2) Try not to charge more than you can pay off each
month on your credit card, and never just pay the
minimum monthly payment. Otherwise you can find
yourself in serious debt.

3) If you need to borrow for educational costs try
to use low-interest loans -- with the chance of a
student loan tax deduction -- and not credit cards.
